FAQ

Where are you based?

I am based in Nantwich, Cheshire and conduct all vocal coaching sessions from my own studio at home.

I really want to work as a singer. Is this achievable?

Anything is possible, whether you aspire to work on a Show/Entertainment Team at a holiday centre, perform solo at multiple venues or achieve work abroad.

Kelly can help you with your publicity and provide you with all the relevant information to make your application stand out.

I have some experience in the industry and would like to gain more. Could I do a crash course?

Absolutely, I have multiple deals available where you can book lessons in bulk - including demo recording for future applications. Don’t forget another person’s perspective could be the missing pieces of the puzzle that you are looking for and you could learn things you never even knew before

How do your lessons work?

I normally book someone in for an introductory hour consultation for just £15 - this is purely to get all the information I need to tailor each lesson to their needs.  I give each student a syllabus in which they choose topics that they would like to cover. If you are doing a crash course, each topic is touched upon, however these can be in more depth if you choose to book in more lessons or if you would like to focus on certain things.

I’m extremely shy and need a lot of encouragement, shall I book a lesson?

YES! I started out as a very shy person but after 15 years in the industry, you wouldn’t know. If confidence is something you’d like to focus on, I can relay all my techniques to help you through the nerves.

What songs will I perform in a lesson?

I will ask you if there are particular songs you’d like to focus on and gain some more confidence with. After hearing these, I will analyse what needs to be worked on and adapt accordingly. In a nutshell, you choose the songs you want to perform, however advice and suggestions will be offered if you have an upcoming audition.

What qualifications do you have to teach?

After spending most of my working life in the entertainment industry, experience speaks volumes, this alone is the most crucial qualification when it comes to teaching. Along with this , please find below the following accomplishments:

* Session vocalist for Parmas Entertainment

* Professional solo vocalist touring the South West of the UK

* Vocal harmony teaching to holiday park showteams

* Management & Musical Direction experience

* Grade 7 Honours LCM Advanced level in performing arts

* Grades 1-5 ABRSM  (Associated Board of Royal School Of Music)

* A Level - Music

* GCSE - Music

What singing style do you teach?

There’s no particular style that I teach. Whatever you are interested in, I will help you achieve your goals. Using techniques to achieve good stamina, amplification and control will set you in good stead to become an accomplished vocalist.

I’m creating a vocal group. Can I get help with harmonies?

Of course, after years of teaching harmonies to show-teams in holiday centres, I can help potential vocal groups achieve great harmonic sounds. Good harmony groups set you aside from a usual single vocalist. Being blessed with absolute pitch, vocal harmonies come easy to me and I can relay and construct intricate harmony lines.

Do you have a DBS certificate?

I certainly do, after working in the entertainment industry for many years, a DBS advanced certificate is a must.

I’m not great at holding a tune, but I love singing. Can you help me improve?

Whilst this is possible, it can prove difficult and results will not be instant. However, with dedication from the singer and I, small achievements can be made to become a better singer.

What is the cancellation policy?

You must cancel a lesson at least 24 hours in advance, if this is not achieved, the full fee will be charged. Special circumstances will be taken into account if the unforeseeable happens.

Do you teach children?

Yes over the age of 10, there is no upper age limit just the love of singing and performing.
